APPLICATION-BASED REFRIGERATION

Cold Storage Planned for Receiving and Dispatch

Distribution facilities are shaped by movement: receiving, sorting, picking and dispatch can create changing room loads. Mechocool reviews those activities alongside the storage requirement. The design basis should describe the busiest relevant operating period and the incoming product condition, rather than relying only on total warehouse volume.

Build a room-by-room duty schedule

Start With the Operating Requirement

Share the proposed layout with product routes and door locations. Identify which areas hold stock and which support short handling periods. Where different products share a space, the owner should confirm that their storage requirements are compatible.

Information to Share

  • Receiving and dispatch schedules and product quantities
  • Entering product condition and room storage criteria
  • Door traffic, handling equipment and occupancy
  • Shift patterns, monitoring needs and interruption priorities

Coordinate zones and operating sequences

The refrigeration review considers the different room duties, capacity control and the effect of door activity. Air cooler positions must be reviewed with racks and movement routes. Defrost scheduling and maintenance access should be considered alongside the times when each area is needed by operations.

Make performance review operational

The proposed package can include a room duty schedule, equipment arrangement and alarm responsibility plan. Agree who receives alarms and what information is retained for review. Startup checks should document the loading and traffic conditions observed, allowing later operating records to be compared with the assumptions used for selection.
