Start With the Operating Requirement

A dimensioned plan is more useful when it also shows racks, doors and product clearances. Describe whether the stored goods are packaged and whether airflow or moisture loss is a particular concern.

Room duty, temperature and product loading pattern
Refrigerant or secondary fluid and selection conditions
Rack arrangement, mounting height and obstructions
Cleaning requirements, drainage and proposed defrost method

Review the air-side details

Capacity data should be considered together with air delivery, fan arrangement and access for inspection. The defrost approach must suit the application and be coordinated with the refrigeration and control system. Drain connections and access to trays or coil surfaces should be resolved before the room is built.

Clarify what is included

A useful equipment submittal identifies the duty basis, fan and defrost electrical requirements, dimensions, connection details and included accessories. The agreed layout should show the proposed cooler positions and reserved service space. During startup, checks should include fan operation, drainage and control sequences, with observations made under an agreed room loading condition.
