REFRIGERATION PROJECT GUIDES
What to Include in a Refrigeration Project Brief
Start with the product or process and explain what happens during a normal operating day. Record the required storage or processing duty, operating hours and the expected variation in load.
Build the project brief
Describe the operation
Label the conditions and site inputs
Identify the expected scope
Describe the operation
For a storage project, include room dimensions and how goods move in and out. For a freezing process, include product form, packaging, loading arrangement and the required output. For process cooling, describe the fluid and the required supply and return conditions.
Label the temperatures
Identify what each temperature refers to: room air, product core, entering product or process fluid. State whether a value is a target, a measured condition or an existing equipment rating. This prevents different technical parties from interpreting the same number in different ways.
Describe the site
Provide the location, available electrical supply, water conditions where relevant, layout constraints and access for installation and maintenance. Identify any project requirements that need confirmation with the local designer or contractor.
Define the expected scope
List the equipment and services you expect the supplier to include. Clarify who is responsible for installation, site utilities, controls integration, startup and acceptance testing. If responsibilities are still open, mark them for discussion.
Keep an open-items list
A useful brief does not hide missing information. Record each unknown, its owner and how it will be resolved. Date the brief and update its revision when an operating requirement changes.
Share the brief with Mechocool to begin a focused review of the proposed system and supply scope.
