Project Overview

Location: Papua New Guinea
Application: Ultra-low-temperature freezing for sea cucumbers and tuna
Customer requirement: Freeze a stated batch of 3 tons within 8 hours, reduce product core temperature to -30°C, and maintain a room temperature of approximately -65°C to -70°C.

Our Solution

MechoCool coordinated a cascade refrigeration system configuration around the stated freezing duty and ultra-low-temperature operating conditions. The proposed two-stage arrangement separates the medium- and low-temperature compression duties to support the required temperature range.

Main Equipment and Design Basis

  • High-temperature stage: 40 HP reciprocating compressor with R404A and an intermediate temperature around -35°C.
  • Low-temperature stage: 25 HP reciprocating compressor with R23 and an evaporating temperature down to approximately -65°C.
  • Heat rejection: Evaporative condenser selected for the stated operating conditions.
  • Air side: Blast air coolers coordinated for rapid product heat removal.

Engineering and Project Support

The scope included requirement clarification, system configuration, equipment matching, supplier coordination, and technical communication for the freezing application. Final operating performance remains subject to confirmed site conditions, installation quality, commissioning, and the actual product load profile.

Customer Value

The coordinated solution provided a clear technical basis and integrated equipment direction for an ultra-low-temperature seafood freezing project, while keeping responsibilities and design conditions visible for project execution.
